DualCor cPC

When I first read about this product I thought it was just another PDA/Personnal Media Device that was a waste of time. Looking further into it, it looks like DualCor is taking PDAs into a better direction. This device seems to have integrated a PDA, desktop computer, personnal media device, and a cell phone all in one unit. If you look at this as a cell phone, well it is extremely bulky and the shape is unappealing. You would need to have a headset to use this as a cell phone regularly. It runs off of Windows XP Tablet PC or Windows Mobile 5.0. The really cool thing about this device is that it has 3 USB 2.0 ports (2 type A and 1 type B) and a mini VGA port. So, this device conviently transfors from PDA to cell phone to desktop PC with no problem. There are not very detailed specs that I can find right now but it does boast a 40 GB hard drive, 1 GB DDR2 RAM, 1 GB NAND flash memory, hundreds of hours of standby time, 3 to 8 hours of continuous use, built in speaker and mic, a 5″ 800 x 480 touch screen, and a compact flash type II port. I could not find out what processor it uses. Anyway, this is something you should check out.

that’s really impressive. I don’t understand how you type on the thing though. I also can’t tell how big it is from looking at the pictures, but maybe that’s because I am looking at it on my treo….. I obviously need a dualcor.

I’m sure that there would be some sort of on screen keyboard. That is exsclusively what I use on my P910a cell phone (since I removed the thumb keypad). Since there are USB ports you could plug in a full size keyboard (or any size for that matter) to do some serious typing.
Since the screen is measured at 5″ diagonally that would put the screen dimensions at roughly 4.35″ wide and 2.475″ tall if the screen has 16:9 format (it looks close to that). So, I would estimate the device measure something like 6″ by 3″ by 1.5″. Not bad for a handheld computer. I imagine some thing like a PSP but a bit thicker and not as wide. The PSP measures 170 mm (L) x 74 mm (W) x 23 mm (D) or roughly 6.7″ by 2.9″ by 0.9″.

Thats the Bucho gift.. Getting the raw facts out in the open.
The real problem with this thing, for me, would be that I would probably use it as a phone via. holding it up to my ear. Nothing like having a tablet pc straped to the side of my head so one can make a phone call.

This looks like a very promising machine. I’m glad to see one more Handtop PC on the market besides OQO.

Thanks to the above link I was able to locate some more information on this.
The dimensions are 6.5″ x 3.3″ x 1.2″, oh well I was close :)
It has two CPUs running at 1.5 GHz (for Windows XP) and 400MHz (for Windows Mobile).
Here is the article where I got the above info.

Damn, thats nuts. I need to check out the specs for that nokia 700. I have a feeling that it is not even going to come close to competing, it probably just looks similar.

I found an indepth review of the Nokia 770….. I thiought that it might compete with the DualCor but the 770 is not what I expected.

What does make it really cool iss that tttthe 770 is running Linux. I consider it a mini linux PC that you could take around with you anywhere to hack away onnn.
It is conssssidered to be a nteneeet tabbblet. But to use it you need a wifi connection or a phone in additon to get it a connection.
When I first saw this think Iassuemed it wouuuuld have stannndalone internet capabalities as well as have phone functionality. The fact thaaat it takes 55 seconds to boot would also be a huge problem for me. I am impressed that Nokia put this bad boooooy out and will hhhave to keepp my eyes open foooor what is coming next.
