Another Ruby on Rails vs. Python??

UnderpaidLoveMonki @ 10:03 pm Monday, January 9th, 2006

Recently, it seems like everyone’s been focused upon creating The One Framework — the Ruby on Rails of Python. In fact, I’m almost as guilty as everyone else. We have failed in this regard, and we will continue to fail.

Snakes versus Rubies - You decide!

I highly recommend you downloading the video and decide for yourself if snakes (Django) or rubies (Ruby on Rails) will win. Get it while you can! link

Forget the Rails Videos. Check out LISP in Action!

Below are some Lisp Movies (Screencasts) that demonstrate features and interactions with a Common Lisp IDE (LispWorks on Mac OS X). All movies were produced by Sven Van Caekenberghe. You need QuickTime to view these movies.

Lisp Movies

LispWorks looks similar to a SLIME environment like I use in Linux but the variable menus that pop up in a new window look pretty sweet. Looks like LispWorks would be a funIDE to work with.

He winds up this page with:

Warning

As John Fraser once said on comp.lang.lisp, “Lisp is the red pill”. Once you get started on Lisp, there is a high probability that you will never want to go back. And then you become one of those add any adjective Lisp hackers yourself. You have been warned!

Sounds good to me I want to take the red pill…… I am just a little short on time at the moment.

Here are some direct links to the videos:
lisp movie 1 ss
Episode 1: HTTP Client and Server

lisp movie 2 ss
Episode 2: (Re)writing Reddit in Lisp is 20 minutes and 100 lines

My only complaint is that the video gets all messed up when I try playing it in mplayer… Probably best to use QuickTime like is suggested.
