DDO: General Xanti’lar Taken Out: Video

Cory Maddox @ 10:46 pm March 1st, 2006

Monday night I was lucky enough to get into a group of higher leveled players with one of my friends and we did a few of the higher instances in the game. We ran through Redwillow which was a breeze, though our highest level had bad luck and died 5 times. No one else was taken out though luckily. As soon as we completed Redwillow we headed to Stormcleave, which was quite fun. I actually went ahead and recorded a video of the final boss in Stormcleave, General Xanti’lar. The video covers distracting the boss, and then taking out all the elements behind the barriers, followed by quickly killing the General Himself. :)

As I posted originaly, still loving the game. Looking forward to taking on a dragon or beholder and posting about it.

Currently my character is a level 3 Human Wizard and I am absolutely loving it. One of the things I have noticed about most other Wizards I have grouped with so far is that quite frankly they are morons. Most of them seem to have no grasp of the class at all. I think the problem is all MMO games before this to date have conditioned them to be used to doing nothing but casting damage spells. An example of this is earlier this evening my cousin was grouped with a Warforged Fighter and a Human Wizard.
When the warforged fighter asked the wizard to heal him the wizards responce was, “I am not a cleric, how the hell would I do that?”.
The warfordged then replied, “because you are a wizard, use the repair spell.”
The wizard then attempted to use the repair SKILL, and shortly after said you are not incapacitated so I can’t do that. Also my mana is gone and has been since the second battle.
Result = Wizard dismissed from party.

It is going to take a while for people to get into the mindset of wizards who can do more than just damage. It is wonderful to have such a variety of spells. Attack spells, utility spells, repair spells, summoning spells, and more. At last a game that caters to the smart wizard. Thanks to the rules created and refined for dungeons and dragons for over 20 years. :) I just feel sorry for the Warforged characters out there who have no one competent enough to keep them healed.

For those interested I am Halaster Blackcloak on the server Sarona. Yes I know, unoriginal name, get over it, heh. I have used plenty of original names in the past and felt like using this name this time. :)

So to sum up the video:

Step one: Get your shady ranger or rogue to draw the general to the rest shrine and get up on the stone. As he throws rocks at you tumble out of the way.

Step two: Have the rest of the group go clear out the elementals one group at a time, making sure not to open multiple barriers at once.

Step three: Kill the general.

Step four: Loot your level 1 spell inscription materials… HAHAHAHA. ;)
