Nintendo leads me to a revelation: I am missing $400.
Cory Maddox @ 11:01 am February 14th, 2006First off, the main topic of this post was going to be on the new Nintendo DS. Yes, yes, all of you out there are going “But Cory, the Nintendo DS is not new, that is suuuuuch old news.” Not the one I am posting on. Nintedo has officially announced three colors for the new Nintendo DS Lite.

The DS Lite will be launching in Japan on March 2nd, and thanks to it being Region-free, unlike the PSP, PS2, Xbox, Xbox360, Gamecube, and all other consoles that means people locally can import it from somewhere like Lik-sang.com on the day it is released in japan and play all their NTSC games on a lighter DS with a brighter screen.
Sooo.. how did this revelation lead me to finding out I am missing $400 is the question in all your heads right now, because OF COURSE thats where all of this led your train of thought. After seeing the new colors I decided I was going to purchase a Navy one. How can I beat that, a nice dark blue color, ligher than the old nintendo DS, brigher screen, and full backwards compatability with Gameboy and Gameboy Advanced games. Well, before I make purchases I go to check my bank account, and when I logged in today what did I see but this?
ATM WITHDRAWAL - 2100 FILLMORE ST SAN FRANCISCO $200.00
ATM WITHDRAWL - MARKET & CASTRO O/S SAN FRANCISCO $200.00
Now… this would not be a problem normally, my account is flooded with charges like this, because I am what you might call a compulsive DEAL buyer. If I see an awesome price for something I buy it. Be it a huge monitor, a new game system, 3 hard drives, or a bread maker. If its a good deal, “I’ll take it.” This instance though my brain said… I really don’t like San Fancisco…. and after that it said, I also did not withdraw money from two diffrent San Francisco ATM machines. Some shady bastard from San Francisco had stolen $400 of my “hard” earned dollars. Not only that but he managed to withdraw them from an ATM machine without my atm card OR my pin number. Technology can be a bitch sometimes I guess.
Luckily I called up the bank and they said they will take care of it and get my money back into my account in 5 to 10 days. So all is well that ends well. The moral of the story is (no offence intended if you are gay), “If you plan to buy a new Navy Blue Nintendo DS Lite from Japan on Valentines day for yourself, do not, inadvertantly and unknowingly, anger any technologically savvy gay people.”

I like bucho’s insight… But damn, how the hell did the shady queen pull it off (pun intended)? Seriously, is it that easy (and financially sound) for a crook to go through all that trouble to get a few hundred dollars here and there?
At least the bank is taking care of it.
