When poorly executed the practice of dog-food can have a very large negative impact on an organization. The practice of dog-fooding needs to be predicated by high quality software to be effective.
On another note relating to quality, I found this quote from Agile Advice:
The bitterness of poor quality lasts longer than the sweet taste of meeting a deadline.
All of this can be compiled into one of agile software development practices - “Quality is not negotiable.”
